The KYCPG Website is designed to provide essential information for those who think they may have a problem controlling their gambling activity or for those who want more information on problem and addictive gambling behavior. The KYCPG Website contains several links for further information from Gamblers Anonymous, Gam-Anon, and other organizations. Gambling Can Be Addictive!

 

If you or someone you know has a gambling problem, please call 1-800-GAMBLER. All calls are toll-free and confidential.

 

Trained telephone counselors are available 24-hours per day, 7-days per week to provide:

      Referral to Gamblers Anonymous;

      Referral to Certified Compulsive Gambler Counselors;

      Distribution of Brochures, Booklets And Papers Offering More Details on Problem and Compulsive Gambling; or

      Crisis Response.

 

A simple self-test may help you or someone you know understand whether there may be a gambling problem. The Gamblers Anonymous 20 Questions is for adults. A
13-question youth test
is available. The clinical criteria for determining whether someone is a pathological (also known as a compulsive) gambler is contained in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of the Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition, published by the American Psychiatric Association.

The KYCPG Vision

The Kentucky Council on Problem Gambling will be the focal point for problem gambling issues in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

 

The KYCPG Mission

The Kentucky Council on Problem Gambling will increase awareness of problem gambling, advocate for widespread availability of treatment for problem gamblers, and promote research and education on problem gambling.

 

The Kentucky Council on Problem Gambling (KYCPG) is a Kentucky non-profit corporation recognized by the IRS with a 501(C)(3) charitable designation. It is funded by memberships and donations and is governed by a Board of Directors that volunteers its services to fulfill the vision, Mission and goals of the organization.

 

KYCPG's Goals and Strategies

Goal -- To provide education and training programs on problem gambling throughout Kentucky.

Strategy -- Ensure the continued development of training programs that enhance knowledge of the issue of problem gambling.

 

Goal -- To advocate for the funding of comprehensive services for problem gamblers and their families throughout Kentucky.

Strategy -- Build and maintain strategic alliances and partnerships with all key constituents to ensure maximum support for the issue of problem gambling.

 

Goal -- To identify and to contact key stakeholders at local, regional and national levels to promote collaboration.

Strategy -- Develop a database of key stakeholders and events to promote collaboration at all levels.

 

Goal -- To foster research, prevention and treatment programs across Kentucky.

Strategy -- Increase awareness of problem gambling as a public health issue through communications of key research activities at local, regional and national levels.

 

Goal -- To foster responsible gaming/wagering programs in collaboration with the public and private gambling industry throughout Kentucky.

Strategy -- Collaborate with key gaming constituents and partner agencies in the community by engaging them through program cooperation.

 

Goal -- To promote the KYCPG as the focal point for addressing problem gambling issues in Kentucky.

Develop a marketing/distribution plan and associated materials for purposes of the recruitment of members and supporters, and promotion of KYCPG leadership efforts as a "central voice" on problem gambling issues.
